Seeing Double!

Cloning has been in the news ever since Dolly the sheep was the first mammal to cloned in the 1990s. Cloning means to make a genetically identical copy of something else, like the naturally occurring identical twins. Scientists have been experimenting with cloning to try and help cure diseases, but it is very controversial because they are actually creating tiny embryos (like what a baby is when it is first made inside a female). There is also concerns that this technology might be used to clone a complete human.

This could be cool!
I believe that we should not allow scientists to create human embryos just to take a few cells out. Every life is equal and even if it is just a tiny embryo, we all started as embryos at some stage! Once we allow this sort of cloning it could be dangerous to society- what if someone created a clone of themselves to commit crimes? Is that the sort of society you want to live in?
I can see the potential benefits of helping people with diseases but science must find another way to help, not be creating and killing cloned embryos!

The video below provides even more arguments for not cloning humans:

  1. After watching the Youtube video on your blog, I can see that there are so many reasons against cloning humans. One very strong reason is that God created humans and we should not start "playing God". There are also so many risks involved, its just not safe. I agree- ban human cloning!
